Patsy Hoch Obituary

PATSY RAE HARPER HOCH Patsy Rae Harper Hoch, aged 88, passed away at her home in Topeka, surrounded by loving family on Oct 11, 2025. She was born on August 14, 1937, to Henry Raymond and Beulah Fay (Ross) Harper in Rantoul, Kansas. She was raised in Franklin County, graduating from Ottawa High School, where she made many lifelong friends. After high school, she married Donald E. Clabaugh in Ottawa in 1956, living in the Johnson County area for many years. Together, they had three daughters: Janet (George) Newton, Lynda Kidwell, and Nancy Clabaugh. Living on a small farm, Patsy raised peacocks, and she was lovingly known as Grandma Peacock. Patsy was a funny, loving, spunky woman who was generous with her time and care. She loved collecting, especially enjoying her pink dishes, jars of marbles, and Peacock memorabilia. She loved listening to Neil Diamond. Patsy was the proprietress of the Sit -n-Spin Laundry and Bargain Basket General Store for many years in Edgerton. After Don passed in 1994, Patsy married Lowell Hoch in 2001 and moved to Ottawa. Lowell preceded her in death in 2012. Patsy made many cherished memories in Ottawa with her friends and family. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Rick, and sisters Ramona Hestand and Ruby Harper, who died in infancy. She is survived by her sister Susie (Gordon) Hendrickson of Colfax, IA, BIL Wayne Hestand of Lawrence, SIL Billie Clabaugh of Oskaloosa, 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Patsy was cremated. An internment service will be held on November 1 at 1:00 pm at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Donations may be made to Midland Care online at midlandcare.org.
