Grayson Dean Obituary

Grayson Dean
In Loving Memory of Grayson Patrick-John Dean
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful boy, Grayson. Just celebrating his 16th birthday, our young soul left us far too soon on December 2, 2024. Grayson was born on August 27, 2008 in Midland, MI, Grayson was a kind, caring, and bright soul whose spirit touched everyone who knew him. His family would describe him as quiet and unassuming, yet his respect, dedication and strong sense of purpose spoke volumes. His teammates and closest friends would highlight his hardworking mentality, as well as his light-hearted, fun-loving spirit. Grayson competed on the same courts, mats, and fields with most of these young men since they were young kids, and he has made an immense impact on their lives, as well.
Grayson was a proud Bullock Creek Lancer. He shone brightly on the football field at both the JV and varsity levels, and he showed great determination on the wrestling mat. Grayson dreamed of competing at the college level. When he wasn't at home with Grandma Peggy, dad and his siblings, he enjoyed going to Papa Dave's, where he spent time four-wheeling, riding dirt bikes, boating, camping, and spending time outdoors. Grayson had a deep love for music and for surrounding himself with friends and loved ones. He cherished the time he spent with Makhi, bonus brothers Heath Williams and Braden Swanson, as well as being a big brother to Eli, Harper and Journey.
Though his time with us was too short, Grayson leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and kindness that will be forever cherished. He is survived by his parents, Tyler Dean and Jessica Lincoln; brothers, Makhi Slayton and Elijah Dean; sisters, Harper Grimm and Journey Dean; grandparents, Margaret "Peggy" Dean, Papa Dave (Doris) Moening, Brenda (Mark) Boucher; great-grandparents, Nancy Martin, Nancy and Denny Duford; aunt, Megan (Jonte) Dean-Slack; uncle, Dylan (Jennifer) Mullikin; and his cousin, Brynlee Mullikin. Grayson will also be cherished by many other extended family members, including his bonus parents Tracey and Nate Williams with whom he spent countless hours, teammates, coaches and mentors, as well as the entire Bullock Creek community.
Grayson was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert "Papa Bob" (Peggy) Dean; and his great-grandparents, Jack and Shirley Demers, Albert and Grace Dean (Grayson's namesake), Jon Moening, and Ron Martin.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Messiah Church, 1550 S. Poseyville Rd., Midland, MI. The family will greet guests from 10AM until the start of the service. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Mount Haley Township.
We take comfort in knowing that Grayson's light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved him. He was always ready to lend a hand, never complaining, and he gave his very best to everything and everyone. Grayson's presence was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him. We will carry his spirit with us always, honoring the beautiful person he was and the countless lives he touched. You will never be forgotten.
Forever in our hearts: Grayson, #18.
