Josh M. Freeland, 45, of Midland and formerly of Monroe, died December 16, 2022, at his home in Midland after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 2, 1977, in Pontiac to the late Michael Freeland and Rebecca (Pemberton) Freeland. Josh graduated from Bullock Creek High School in 1995 and continued his education at Saginaw Valley State University receiving his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology. He was employed as a Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer for over 20 years in Monroe and the Tri-City Post. Josh enjoyed all facets of his career, including helping people in any way he could. This included reading to school children in his uniform and participating in the shop with a cop program. Josh's main joys in life were being involved with his family, especially his niece, and being a part of the police force. Josh was known for his sense of humor, enjoyment of cartoons, reading, swimming in the summer, grilling out and going to the shooting range. Josh's Lancer roots ran deep and he could often be seen cheering on his niece and brother at Creek sporting events.
Josh will be missed by his mom, Rebecca; brother, Justin (Jennifer) Freeland; niece, Vivian Freeland; uncle, Ronnie (Barb) Koon and his many dear co-workers and special friends.
Funeral services for Josh will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Burial will take place at Homer Township Cemetery. Josh's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
