Marie-Jeanne McCarty, 85, of Midland, died Tuesday, August 15, 2023, in Bay City with her family by her side. She was born in Orleans, France on October 27, 1937, daughter of the late Andre and Madeleine Beullay. Marie-Jeanne grew up in France during WW2 and graduated from Ecole Sacre-Coeur with a degree in teaching. She later moved to Midland. In May of 1976, she married the late Dr. Leslie McCarty who passed in July of 2000.
Marie-Jeanne was a spirited woman who took immense pride in her French heritage and teaching career. She enjoyed many things including reading, French cooking in her kitchen, working in her garden, spending time with her family, and playing with her beloved pets. She was a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Midland French group.
Marie-Jeanne is survived by her loving daughters, Claire Eisenman and Corinne Eisenman; her grandchildren, Jeremy Knickerbocker, Matthew Knickerbocker, and Daniel McCarty; her many friends and family members in France; and the friends she made in Michigan. She will be greatly loved and missed by all who knew her.
Marie-Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Leslie McCarty; her parents, Andre and Madeleine Beullay; and grandson, Jonathan Eisenman.
The family would like to thank her great friend and care giver, Sherry, for all of her love and support over the years.
Funeral Liturgy for Marie-Jeanne will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Father Rob Howe will officiate with cremation to follow mass. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, August 18th at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, and again at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of liturgy.
