Marion Baker Obituary
Marion A. Baker, 84 of Midland, died Wednesday evening, April 20, 2005 at the MidMichigan Medical Center. She was born on April 5, 1921, in Midland, daughter of the late Julius and Mary (Fitzmaurice) Kaweck. She attended Midland Schools, graduating from Midland High School and was in the first Graduating LPN Class from Midland Hospital. She married Arthur L. Baker on April 15, 1939 in Midland; he predeceased her on June 22, 1985. Marion had worked at Midland Hospital as a LPN retiring in 1984 after 21 years of service. She was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church along with being a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Society. She was a past president of the local License Practical Nurses Association and had enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Thomas and Jean Baker, Richard and Diane Baker, Robert and Debby Baker, Mary Kay and Terry Thrush all of Midland, Joseph and Dee Baker of Sanford, Nancy and Bernard Thompson of Gladwin, Ann Marie and Cliff Blake of Hope, Elizabeth and Phillip Laleman of Essexville; 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. One daughter, Ruth Ann Baker, one brother, Max Kaweck and four sisters, Gladys Hunter, Viola Kaweck, Mae Demski and Dorothy Kaweck all predeceased her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2005 from St. Brigid Catholic Church. Rev. Father Kevin Maksym will officiate with burial in Old Calvary Cemetery. Marion's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street on Saturday from 6-8 p.m., Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the funeral home.
