Thomas Cronkright Obituary

Thomas Cronkright
Thomas Lynn Cronkright, 82, formerly of Midland, passed away Friday January 10, 2025 surrounded by loved ones at the Hooverwood Nursing Home in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born July 30, 1942, the first of seven sons born to the late Clyde Lindsay and Norma (Larsen) Cronkright. While growing up in Midland, he enjoyed baseball and wrenching on hot rod cars. Everyone knew when Tom was coming home as the car engine roared while turning off M-20 onto Homer Road heading to the old farm house. Tom married Nancy Ann Prine on March 5, 1965 in Midland. He graduated from Central Michigan University, and worked a long and successful career. His professional career started with Becktel in Cherryhill, NJ as a project manager. He then worked at Dow Corning Corporation for 35 years in the IT and Manufacturing Finance departments, while holding various leadership roles. Tom was Dow Corning's liaison and implementation leader of SAP software. Upon retirement, Tom consulted for the SAP company. He then became the co-owner of Sealant Sales in Indianapolis, Indiana and volunteered at a program called SCORE, an inspiring program for entrepreneurs and new business owners. His outstanding leadership skills in his career and in family matters were often displayed. He will be greatly missed!
As the first of seven sons, Tom was deeply loved, almost as much as he loved Mom's goulash! He was a fierce competitor as demonstrated by his successes on the softball field, golf course and in his business career. He also was the Chairman of the Board of the MidMichigan Medical Center.
Surviving family members are wife, Nancy; two sons, Todd (Kristin) and Jason (Stacy) all of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Alexis, Katie, Addison and Sophia; one great-grandchild, Mary Jane (one more on the way); brothers, Nelson, Steven (Debra) both of Midland, Peter (Judy) of Syracuse, N.Y., David (Robin) and Daniel (Jan) also of Midland. In-laws, Dave and Sue (Prine) Keilitz of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul; and sister-in-law, Penny.
A celebration of Tom's life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Homer United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends prior to the celebration from 9:30 a.m. until the service. Tom's favorite color was purple, which also represents the official color of the Alzheimer's movement. In honor of Tom, and the Alzheimer's movement, purple will be a part of the celebration. A luncheon and celebration will follow at the Midland American Legion. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the MyMichigan Medical Center.
All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the Cronkright family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.

Please accept our deepest condolences, I met Tom when he hosted me on a visit to SAP headquarters in Germany. In addition to sharing his knowledge and expertise in the IT world, we were able to share a stein or two. It was very infrequent that we met after that, but when we did it was good to catch-up

My condolences to a wonderful family. My cherished memories include softball, baseball and watching my brothers play ball with the Conkright brothers. My dad also grew up on a farm on the corner of Homer road and M-30. Prayers for all of you and your family. Mike, Ron, Gary and Brian Zink.
