METROPOLIS, Ill. - Alberta Marie Thompson, 96, of Metropolis, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pell Cemetery.
Alberta worked for Good Luck Glove Factory, Superior Care Home and as a charge nurse and Lourdes Hospital. She was a member of Waldo Baptist Church and enjoyed camping and fishing with her grandchildren. Alberta loved being a mom and granny to everyone and is going to be missed by all that knew her.
Alberta is survived by four children, Miles E. Thompson, Louis B. Thompson, Anna Marie Jeffords (David) and Bobby Dale Thompson (Carol); eight grandchildren, Jimmy Thompson, Lisa Wilkins (Ray), Dayla Long (Jacob), Kristal Arden (Mike), Derrick Thompson, Lana Marie Taylor, Quincy Thompson (Raven), and Gwendolyn Meyer (David); numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Quincy and True (Joyner) Bohannon; husband, Joseph E. Thompson; son, Lyndell E. Thompson; daughter-in-law, Vicki Thompson; grandson, Chancily Jeffords; sister, Carmen Sharp; brothers, Thomas Bohannon and Bayless Bohannon.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 19, at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given in Alberta's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences for the family may be left at aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
Pallbearers will be Stevie Jeffords, Charlie Taylor, Payton Bailey, Austin Long, Jimmy Thompson, and Dalton Nelson.
