LEXINGTON - Anthony Edward "Tony" Huston, 74, of Lexington, died on July 8, 2024. Tony's husband, Jay Stockman, lovingly and loyally was by his side.
Tony was an avid seeker and collector of experiences and knowledge. He traveled often, venturing around the globe visiting all seven continents. He was a master gardener, and in addition to volunteering for community projects, he enjoyed spending hours transforming his own backyard into an ever-changing work of art. Tony embraced life as a gift, and he could find the interesting in any situation. He took great pleasure and great pride in his family members, his eclectic extended family, his neighbors, and the many special friends in his life.
Tony moved from his native Paducah to Lexington, where he graduated from the University of Kentucky. After a long and successful career as a physical therapist, he retired in 2012.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Evelyn Huston, and his longtime partner, Paul Brett Johnson. In addition to his husband, Jay Stockman; Tony is survived by his sister, Jimmelyn Huston Sims West; brothers, James "Beau" Huston (Rita) and Brad Huston; nephews, Brian Sims (Iris), Brett Sims (Jennifer), and Tyler Huston; great-niece, Shelby Sims Hofer (Cameron) and family; and great-nephew Tanner Sims (Shelbi).
We will miss Tony's infectious energy, his fun spirit, and his welcoming heart - presents he wrapped for us in that big, beautiful smile.
A celebration of Tony's life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT, July 26, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 3220 Lexington Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356. In Tony's honor, memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Humane Society, Camp Jean, and JustFundKY.

I went to UK with him. He was always warm and welcoming, frequently having celebrations in his home. We had an internship together at Fort Knox, stayed in the same house sleeping on air mattresses. I stayed for a few weeks at his parent's home in Paducah in August 1986, loved Evelyn and Jim. Thinking of Tony always brings a smile to my heart.

A group of us rented a chalet in the Smokies. Hiking, good food, great friends! Tony was a big part of my youth. He was a wonderful man, a real bright light...
