FANCY FARM - Kenneth Ray Willett, 60, of Fancy Farm, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024, at his home.
He was a member of the St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm, and was retired from General Tire in the Final Finish Department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #1418.
When Kenneth was a young man he enjoyed participating in Demolition Derbies. He loved searching for the perfect car, tearing it down and building it up for the Derby. Later, before his health deteriorated, Kenneth loved hunting but mainly just the camaraderie of sitting around the campfire at his Mush Mountain Hunt Club Deer Camp campfire. There was always plenty to eat and drink because Kenneth loved to barbecue and feed anyone that showed up. Kenneth also enjoyed having friends and family over to his "Man Cave" to play pool, talk about old times, laugh a lot and eat. He held a pool tournament there every year since 1999.
Kenneth and his friends would also gather there every Sunday afternoon to watch NASCAR Races, but it was never the same after he lost his idol, Dale Earnhardt. Once again there was always plenty to eat and drink. Some Sundays he would gather everyone to ride four wheelers down in Wilson Creek at Lowes. Another of Kenneth's passions was old cars. He owned a 1970 Dodge Coronet. It was his pride and joy. He and his wife, Linda, hosted the Golden Car Show in Fancy Farm for three years, 2010-2012.
Kenneth would befriend strangers and invite them for Christmas Dinner if they had no where to go for Christmas. He never wanted anyone to be alone or hungry on Christmas. Kenneth was always the life of the party. He loved making everyone laugh by telling his old "stories." He will be missed.
