Robert Tveite Obituary

Robert Tveite fell away from this world on Jan. 27, 2025. Robert was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, on Jan. 29, 1986, to John and Pat Tveite.

Robert lived.

After spending eight years in Minnesota, he moved with his family to Benton. Robert graduated from Marshall County High School in 2004. He attained a bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville in 2009.

Robert concocted a unique life recipe. He marched to the beat of resolute obstinance sprinkled with charm. Laughing with Robert was contagious, raucous, and unpredictable; as no subject even tickled the edge of his absurdity meter. He was a non-judgmental gentle soul, and he always took the time to carefully understand others' perspectives.

He lived his life the way he wanted. If a cock-eyed grin and twinkly eye emerged on his countenance you knew something was coming. Good or bad. Rob's "cock-eyed twinkle" was the curtain before the unveiling of his most outlandish and ridiculous stories and thoughts.

Robert proudly told anyone that would listen about the absurdity and unimportance of most every aspect of life. Honestly, he was probably right. Very few things truly matter. He would even point to his own demise as further evidence. Of course, he was flat wrong about his own transcendent impact on everyone that met him. He leaves an irreplaceable void. A black hole. Nothing fits the jagged amorphous Robert-sized hole left in our souls. There was and is no one like Rob.

Robert loved family and friends deeply. If you were lucky enough to be one of the aforementioned, no ask was ever too big. If he could provide help or support, he would. He was loyal to a fault.

He cherished his antique typewriter procured in Portland. He wrote hilarious letters and kept a devote journal of his experiences. His love of ridiculous movies and reading remained intact.

He transformed his life when he moved to Portland, OR, in close proximity to his beloved sister, Molly. This move reinvigorated Robert and fueled an undeniable fusion of palpable magnetic energy and creativity. He dove headfirst into the Portland concert and comedy scene, Portland Timbers soccer, and the hiking and climbing community. His renewed energy and vigor for life was never more evident than when he spoke about hiking and mountaineering

Robert was always searching for meaning and purpose. He found his purpose in nature and on the sides of mountains. Robert's passion and confidence overflowed, as he not only summited peaks, but found a refined eye for natural beauty evidenced in his photography. Robert's visions of beauty remain gifted to us via his photography. He found solace, peace, and love unlike any he'd ever known in the mountains.

Robert is survived by John and Pat Tveite (mother and father), Molly Tveite (sister), Chuck Tveite and Nicole Mathis (brother and brother's partner), and Scout Tveite (Robert's beloved niece).

A Celebration Of Life will be held at Benton Golf and Country Club's clubhouse Feb. 15, starting at 6 p.m. and extending into the night. All our welcome to join family and friends in celebrating a glorious life. Food and drinks will be provided.
