BARDWELL - Robert Edward "Acey" Watson, 85, of Bardwell, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at his home.
Robert was born on Feb. 14, 1939, in Bardwell, to the late Joseph L. and Reba Bodkin Watson. He was a member of Bardwell Baptist Church. Robert graduated from Murray State University, where he would later finish his masters in Administration. He began his career in education, teaching Math at Christian County High School. Robert would later move to the Carlisle County Schools System, where he retired as superintendent. Robert also worked on the family farm, where they grew row crops and raised cattle. He loved sports, especially watching the Carlisle County Comets and Kentucky Wildcats play Basketball, and was excited to see the recent success of his favorite NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Robert also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. His family will forever remember his soft and big heart and for being the most loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda Hudgens Watson; his daughter, Robbie (Chris) Shuemaker, of Bardwell; his son, Justin (Lacey) Watson, of Bardwell; four grandchildren, Dr. Todd (Dr. Jennifer) Shuemaker, of Bowling Green; Stacie (Lee) Zarate, of Paducah, Ty Watson and Molly Jo Watson, both of Bardwell; and four great-grandchildren, Norah Shuemaker, Matthew Shuemaker, Zoe Zarate and Weston Zarate.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Roselawn Cemetery, with Ronnie Stinson and Jason Burnett officiating.
There will be no public visitation. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell is in charge of arrangements.
