Dian Skroch Obituary
Dian, affectionately known as 'D', was born on June 18, 1971 to Thomas and Marcia (Van Wert) Coulter in Spokane, WA. She moved with her family to Watsonville, CA at the age of 8. In 2004 Dian married Mark Skroch and the couple made their home in San Jose, CA. The family has resided in Mountain House, CA for the past 8 years.
Graduating from Watsonville High School, Dian achieved a master's degree in recreational therapy from San Jose State. By achieving her degree, Dian set a shining example of what can be accomplished despite life's challenges including learning differences.
She showed her giant heart to the world by choosing to use her skills in social services. She enriched the life of individuals with brain injuries with weekly activities at a club run by the County of Santa Cruz. She worked with adults with mental illness and developmental disabilities at Grace Community Center in San Jose. After moving to Mountain House, Dian worked as a substitute for the school district in many capacities including aiding in special education classrooms.
She wanted to help people and she succeeded in improving the life of many who had the privilege to know her as a friend, a co-worker, a neighbor, etc. There was "literally" no one she wouldn't say hello to or chat with.
She was a devoted mother. In addition to her long-time involvement with her son's Cub and Boy Scouts, Dian lead her daughter's Girl Scout troop 455. Her impact was so significant and rare, Dian was named a "Green Angel" by the Girl Scouts.
Dian is survived by her husband Mark Skroch, daughter Sophia and son Ryan of Mountain House, CA; mom and step-dad Marcia and Ron Hart of Royal Oaks, CA; dad and step-mom Tom and Vicki Coulter of Chandler, AZ; sister and brother-in-law Kim and Bob Benge and nieces Caitlin and Jocelyn of San Jose, CA; brother James Hart of Salinas, CA; brother-in-law Greg Skroch of Mountain House, CA; other extended family and many friends.
All arrangements are being conducted by Tracy Memorial Chapel in Tracy, CA.
