Janet Schultz Obituary

Janet Mary Schultz, 83, of Aptos, peacefully passed away at home on December 8, 2021.

Janet was born on October 12, 1938 to Elmer & Mary Straubinger in Belleville, Ill. Janet graduated from Notre Dame High School, Belleville, Ill, in 1956 and she then pursued a nursing degree in DePaul School Of Nursing in St. Louis, MO, and graduated in 1959.
After graduation, she was married in Belleville, Ill then moved to the Monterey Bay.  She had four children, Paul, Mark, David and Laura, and worked as a nurse for over 50 years. Janet was passionate about her family and about her patients. She helped people leave this world and come into it.  Postpartum care, helping new babies and mothers, was her absolute favorite.

Janet was a force of nature; so unbelievably loving, kind, thoughtful, generous, artistic, a gardener, amazing cook, resilient and so much fun. Her energy emanated and her smile lit up a room. She made everything beautiful and, the big and little things in life, so special. She loved to decorate, dance, tell stories and throw an amazing party. She was "The Bell" of Belleville, Illinois, where she grew up and, continued her legacy in California. Christmas was her favorite holiday and her tree was the inspiration of so many friends and family.

Janet retired in 2015 after 50+ years in the field. While retired, Janet had time to pursue her love of gardening, dancing, cooking, spending time with her granddaughter, children and friends.

Janet was predeceased by her mother and father, Elmer and Mary Straubinger, and her son, Mark Schultz.  She is survived by her daughter, Laura Schultz, sons, Paul & David Schultz, granddaughter, Chloe Cohen, and son-in-law, Isaac Cohen.
Throughout her life, Janet put her family first, loved and protected her children and granddaughter fiercely. Her friends were like her family and she treated them as such. The world is a little less bright without her sparkling soul.

Jan was a good friend to our mother Peggy, and to Maureen and me for many decades. She made us part of her family, and hers was part of ours. We share in your grief at this difficult time.
