Douglas Lear Obituary

Douglas Lear

Richmond - Veteran Private First Class Douglas Lear passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday January 15, 2019. He was born on September 16, 1952 to the late Sherman and Shirley Lear.

Doug served 2 years in the United States Army. He was an avid NASCAR fan who rarely missed a race. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends cooking, watching sci-fi and playing Texas Hold'em. He also enjoyed fishing with his brothers. He taught us all how to have fun.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Kathy Lear of Richmond; 7 children: Tracy (Charles), Susan (Walter), Perry, Brandi (Mark), Alicia (Joe), Justin and Ryan (Angela); 22 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters: Anna and Peggy (Gary); brothers: Jesse (Anne) and Pete; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins to cherish the many memories he had blessed them with. Family would also like to recognize a couple special friends: Darrell Newton and Roy Gordon, who were very special to Doug, and Tracy D. Lewis and Community Family Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Marie, Bonny and Betty (Melvin); brothers: JW, Danny, Donny and Jim (Judy) Lear; his in-laws: Etta and Buster and a great grandson: Zaiden Hammonds

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Doug's family, sorry for your loss. Jeremiah 29:11, 12 assures us that God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope, and that if we come and pray to Him, He will listen to us. May that bring you comfort in this time of sorrow.
