Herbert Fields Obituary
Richmond - Herbert Raymond "Poppy" Fields 81 of Richmond passed peacefully October 18, 2018 at Heritage House of Richmond, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 1, 1937 in Foxtown, Kentucky to James W. and Bonnie Venable Fields.
He worked at Dana Corporation in the Sleeve Castings Plant as the Plant Superintendent retiring after working 34 years. He also worked in Security at the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Home for Children. He honorably served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Centerville Christian Church. He was the happiest when he was with his family.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Meyer Fields who he married June 11, 1958, five children Gregory (Heidi) White, Timothy (Cindi) Fields, Lisa Larsh (Joe Cranfill) Sherri (Mike) Slonsky, and Eric (Michelle) Fields, 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, his sister Floene Rose. He is preceded in death by his infant son Michael Steven Fields, his parents, and one sister Opal Jean Fields.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday October 23, 2018 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Cochran officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville with military rites. Friends may call 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family via the guest book at www.stegallberheideorr.com.
