Charlie and I enjoyed a friendship that began in the early '60's and endured to his recent passing.
Charlie's parents had three sons; my parents, too, reared three boys in Fayetteville, NC.
Charlies' '58 Edsel needed repair - I helped at his home in Windsor Terrace.
Double dating in Clark Park, driving my 4-door '56 Chevrolet, Charlie slid it into a tree that couldn't get out of the way.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays while attending Methodist College, we enjoyed the company of ladies at Carver's Falls.
Years passed.
Charlie was my source of most of my jokes. He was my friend and confidant and mentor. Like a brother.
He taught me how to sell men's clothing at the Varsity Men's Shop on Hay Street, then, years later, trucking association membership products and services.
Charlie's sudden affliction and demise leaves a vacuum in this long-time friend's life.
Rest in Peace, Charlie
