Ernest Francis Obituary
Ernest "Wayne" Francis, 76, of Bostwick, Florida passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital in Palatka following an extended illness.
Born in Bristol, Tennessee, Wayne had lived in Putnam County for over 20 years coming from Chico, California, where he was a loan office manager for Tri-county banks. In Palatka, he was a top car salesman for Beck Chrysler Dodge for 20 years, receiving many sales awards before retiring in 2012.
Wayne enjoyed NASCAR, both collegiate and professional football, bowling, and golf. Wayne was very competitive and enjoyed a good round of ping pong.
Besides his parents, Elmer and Betty Francis, he was preceded in death by his older sisters Margie Campbell, Jenny Eller, and Mary Sue Erickson.
Surviving are two brothers, Larry Francis of Alabama (Barbara), and Garry Francis-Verbeelen (Kim) of Melrose; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita Hess of Hawthorne, Carol Sampson (Chris), Rosemary Bernier (Bob) of Boston, MA, and Joanne of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
A small gathering for a Celebration of Life with the spreading of ashes, will be held at Ravine Gardens State Park in Palatka on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 10 a.m. Address: 1600 Twigg St.,Palatka, FL, 32177.
