I was privileged to know and enjoy Add for alas a brief time. I am diminished by his passing. However, he did leave us so much to enjoy and remember. His music and teaching will live with us and future generations. Add served as an example of dedication and caring. He will be very much missed. REST IN PEACE. Stan Friedman

Mr. G, it wasn't too long I was trying to find you on Facebook to get back in touch. It's been a few years since we traded emails about our kids and even longer since I last saw you - you still have my videotapes of the FSU Marching Chiefs! I'm so sad to hear about your passing. You were a fantastic percussion instructor who taught me so much about the technicality and musicality of banging on things with sticks. Aside from that you taught me much about life...how to be confident in my abilities, or fake it until I make it. How to be patient, to lead, and to have fun and not take everything so seriously. You were a big influence on the person I am today (the good parts) and you are missed. May God bless Lisa and your daughters.

Mr. Gilbert, the Testai family is heart broken to know that you have left this earth, however, we know what a wonderful musician and teacher that you are; and you will have a gloriful place in heaven to play and teach other students as you had taught Gabrielle for so many years.

We remember Addie for his winning smile, his warm personality, and his love of music. He was our son, Scott's drum teacher & when Scott wanted his first drum set, we remember Addie watching the newspaper for a good second hand one. He even took Scott with him to make sure it was a good one and a good price. He inspired Scott to work hard as a bag boy at Publix when he was 16 so he could buy his own brand new drum set. What a special day that was for our son! He went on to audition & play for the Marching Hundred at Indiana University, worked with the drum line at Martin High School in Stuart in his spare time & to this day is the drummer every Sunday at our church. When he went to State Contest as a high school senior, one of the judges commented: "I wrote on my scoring sheet 3 times, I love the drummer." All of this was thanks to Addie, his great teacher. Our hearts go out to you, Marilyn & Steve and to his wife & daughters. Love, Meredith & John Button

My prayers and thoughts are with the Gilbert family. We have been family friends for many years and of those years I remember, they were great! Addison was a great person, teacher, percussionist, and always had a flare for adding his component into whatever he was performing. I was Add's student for 4 years, from 1985 - 1989 in Santaluces HS. He taught me a lifelong lesson on discipline. I will always have a piece of Addison with me throughout the rest of my life. May peace be with you.

Addison was the most wonderful drum teacher. . He taught both of my sons Alex and Joshua Sommerfeld how to master the drums and love making and creating music. My sons talents are a product of the teaching and devotion Add put into his lessons. He was a wonderful person that touched my sons life. I thank god for the time my sons had to work with him. Wow I can't believe he's gone. Though I wasn't a drummer, my brother was and every body who has ever come into contact with him will tell you he was one of the nicest guys you will ever meet in life. He worked with the drum line at Santaluces High school 20 years ago and he will surely be missed. My prayers go out to his family!

Mr G, as so many of us lovingly called him, was an inspiration to so many of us students. We shared so many laughs, great trips and experiences that I will carry with me forever. I think back at those years and cannot help but smile! The discipline, skills and knowledge I bring to my work everyday - was influenced by the guy who made me do paradiddles until I got them right. My thoughts and prayers with your family, you will be missed. Thank you for the time we had you, god bless you.

We were truly sadden to hear of the death of Addison, my deepest sympathy goes out to all of his family. He taught my son Aaron percussion for many years with great perfection, he was the youngest percussionist ever, being in 5th grade at the time, to receive a superior rating, thanks to the perfectionist teaching style of Addison. What a talented man, he had so much to offer the world through his musical gift. He was an exceptional musician and person, and I am so proud to say that we knew him, and that for a short time he touched our lives in such a tremendous way with his gift. He will be deeply missed.

Add,
You will always be in my heart. I have so many wonderful memories of you growing up and how very proud I have always been. You touched so many lives through your music. Music was your passion and you taught percussion with such perfection. I will miss you terribly, but God had a different plan. There is so much that I could say and how much you have always meant, but I will have many talks with you. I will keep you close to my heart and in my memory forever. I love you so very much.

Add:
I miss you Bro! You will always be in my memories with all the good times we had growing up. You'll always be my big brother, even though you enjoyed when people asked whom was older; you or me. All your accomplishments were amazing and I always admired your passion for what you put your heart to. It's time for others to carry the torch now and teach percussion with the vigor and perfection you did. They will all have big shoes to fill. It gives me comfort that you lived your life to the fullest and you are at peace now. Hopefully, if I get my second ace you'll be watching. That's awesome you were there for the first. That was enough for me. You even watched me graduate and that too was enough for me. Of course I wish you were still here, but God's plan did not have it that way. It's okay. I will always cherish your memory. I love you.

My condolences to the family on your loss. Mr. G was my percussion instructor @ Santaluces High School from 91-92. He was a world class leader & instructor, who continually challenged me as I grew as a musician. After high school I was a music major in college, & although I did not pursue a music career, my success & growth in my life I owe to my experience in the discipline & satisfaction in learning & performing music. Mr. G was the genesis of that motivation, & without him I most certainly be on a different path than I am now. May God bless your family through this difficult time.
