Dear Julie, Michelle and Bob,
I was so sorry to learn of your mom's death. I know how difficult it is. Although I didn't know her well, my fondest memory is one of Bob's birthdays on the Fourth of July on the roofdeck in Boston overlooking the Charles River with the Pops playing and the fireworks exploding. She was radiant and so happy surrounded by her kids and friends and family. Her legacy of service and creativity lives on in you all everyday with what you do. May 2009 bring you healing, peace and good memories. My thoughts and prayer are with you all.
Love,
Mary

Dearest Julie and Family,
I did not know your mum Andy personally. I knew her through the light of her daughter Julie, her son-in-law Jessen and her precious grandchildren, Keegan and Aquinnah. When I worked at Newburyport Montessori School, Julie gave us a beautiful quilt "on loan", one her mum Andy had created by hand. I remember deciding it should be hung in the main hallway and not the children's activity room, as I suspected they would not be able to keep their hands off of it! On Andy's quilt were children from around the world dressed in native costumes and dress. It was exquisite! No one walked down the main hallway of our school without stopping and staring ... and touching. Not a day went by (seriously) when it did not fall off the wall because one of the children passing by could not resist feeling it. I saw child after child stop and explain what they liked best about Andy's quilt to a parent picking them up. Talk about spreading light and joy to children ... and all of us. My daughter and I are are so saddened by your loss of such a remarkable woman.

I worked with Andy in the 1960's at EG&G and lost touch with her after I left. We re-connected via the Internet during this last year; and it was always a treat to get her emails of inspiration.

I feel so sad that she's gone ..... May all your wonderful memories of times together comfort you at this time.

I was devastated when I received the e-mail today telling me about the loss of our wonderful Andy. I had worked with Andy for many years in Bedford, MA at EG&G and we had some wonderful times together. We kept in touch for a good number of years after she moved to Florida but then lost touch. It was a little over a year ago when we made contact after so many years of having lost touch but through the wonders of the computer and e-mail we found each other again and I was thrilled as were 3 other friends who had worked with her. It was so nice to chat through e-mails and to hear about her lovely family and to also receive so many lovely photos. We were unable to speak over the phone due to her COPD but we had a wonderful reunion through the wonders of the computer. We were so delighted to chat again with her. I just totally broke down in tears when I read the obituary and realized she was gone....but certainly would never be forgotten. Those of her friends here in the New England area will never forget her and are so grateeful that we at least had this past year of communication with her. She was one very special "lady". My sincere condolences go out to all of you in your loss...but how blessed you were to have her in your life for the time you did. God bless you all.

My deepest sympathy to Andrea's family.
Even though I never met Andrea in person, we have been friends for some time, brought together by fighting a common enemy which
was our illness.
Now I can only say in the words of
Thomas Campbell:
"To live in hearts we leave behind
Is not to die."

Dear family,
My most vivid memory of Andy was the first day we met. She had just come home from a day of tennis with my dad and was startled to see my sister and I standing at my dads door
waiting on him to come home. She
was so surprised to see us she did an
about face and headed for the elevator. I told dad to tell her it was okay and to come back. I liked her from the moment I met her
and thought she was a perfect match for my dad. Soon after, she
was to become my dad's 2nd wife after my mom. She brought 2 children, Bobby and Michelle into our family whom I love. I can remember the extravagent dinners she would cook for us and that extra touch of creativity in everything she did. I loved our family get togethers at their home in Winchester, Mass.
She was a first class lady and so thoughtful. I admired all the things
she made with her own hands for her grandchildren.
I am especially grateful for my sister
Julie. I can't imagine my life without her in it.
I hope and pray Andy is already in
Heaven and making toys, quilts and
doll houses for all the little children.

Lot of love,
Laura Berndt King
