ASAPH ÒAceÓ H. HALL Quietly passed away on December 7 after courageously battling melanoma over the past two years. His optimism and inner strength were true testaments of how Ace lived his life. He was admired for being a bright, natural leader and a generous friend to all. Ace will truly be missed. Born in Elmira, NY, Ace received his A.B. summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1955 and his M.S. degree in engineering and business administration in 1956 from DartmouthÕs Thayer School of Engineering and Amos Tuck School of Business Administration. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. A member of Phi Beta Kappa and listed in WhoÕs Who in America, Ace received the Brookings Institution Public Affairs Fellowship. His professional activities include membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Aerospace Industries Association of Information Technology Committee, and the Council for Excellence in Government. Always giving back to his home community, Ace was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Elmira College since 1994 and was a board member since 1989. In June 2003, he received the honorary degree of Doctor of Law from the college. Retired as Corporate Vice President of Information Systems and Administrative Services at General Dynamics Corporation, he held various positions in of increasing responsibilities since 1977. Ace served eight years with the U.S. Dept of Transportation, including two years as Federal Railroad Administrator. He also worked with Westinghouse Electric Corporation in its Defense and Space group for eleven years. Ace is survived by his four children and five grandchildren. Along with his companion of eight years, Carole Rogers, they will miss Ace beyond words. Ace was a fine gentleman and a cherished friend.
