Carolyn KIEFER Obituary

KIEFER, Carolyn

On April 17, 2014, Floral City lost one of its lights as Carolyn "Carol" Kiefer, 79, slipped away peacefully from this world to the next surrounded by her family of friends. Formerly of West Palm Beach, Florida, she was born August 17, 1934 in Cranbury New Jersey, a Daughter of the late Earl Frank Danser, Sr. and Gladys "Happy" Danser nee Hand. As a young woman, she lived on the family farm where they grew potatoes and grains. She learned to ride and care for horses which became her passion. A part of the local equine community, she spent much of her time with her two loves Franklin and Danser. Carol, always being in great shape and active, was still riding past her 79th Birthday. She enjoyed each day and everything around her. She loved her family and friends with a rare sincerity. She will be dearly missed by her immediate family, her family of friends, her PBSO family, and especially by her furry family - Danser, Franklin, Happy, Sage and Russell. Prior to retirement in 1997 she was employed for 20 years as a consolidation specialist by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and earlier in her career she worked in classified and legal advertising for the Palm Beach Post. She is survived by her son, Ryan Kiefer; her sister, Minerva Baldwin (Earl); nieces and nephews, Carol Simon (Michael), Gail Dyer (James), Terri Shanko, Earl Danser, Frank Danser, Kevin Danser and Sally Kominsky; dear cousin, Cindy Vanderbeck (Frank); other family and countless friends. She is predeceased by her brother, Earl F. Danser, Jr. Carol was often heard saying "love and light", which is how she chose to live her life. If you knew Carol your life was brighter with her by your side. The family would like to thank everyone that supported and loved Carol as her cancer pr ogressed. A special thank you to the following for going above and beyond: Arbor Trail and Hospice of Citrus County; Cherished Friends, Linda and Gil Gates, Ginger Leis, Cathy Milano, Debbie Rigg, Barbara Robinson, Cathy Rotola and Daren, Lisa and Peter Sansone and Jennifer Forsyth. Relatives and friends are invited to Carol's celebration of life at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM, located at 3075 S. Florida Ave. Inverness, Fl 34450 Phone 352-726-8323. Friends will be received in visitation from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Horse Protection Association of Florida, Inc. 20690 NW 130th Ave., Micanopy, FL 32667. Federal Tax Identification Number 65-0191969.

For those of you unable to attend Carols Service the below poem will be read on Saturday May 3rd.

I heard your voice in the wind today and I turned to see your face; The warmth of the wind caressed me as I stood silently in place.

I felt your touch in the sun today as its warmth filled the skay; I closed my eyes for your embrace adn my spirit soared high.

I saw your eyes in the window pane as I watched the falling rain; It seemed as each raindrop fell it quietly said your name.

I held you close in my heart today it made me feel complete; You may have died...but you are not gone you will always be a part of me.

As long as the sun shines...
the wind blows...
the rain falls...

You will live on inside of me forever for that is what my heart knows.

With much love and respect, your daughter by choice,

Tina

A friend I wish I could have held longer in my life, knew only briefly, but admired from the moment we met. Full of style, humor, and kidness, I watched her cheer on her dear friend Cathy Rotola at so many events, always with her beloved Franklin in tow. Though I never had the honor of riding with Carol, there was a special day at a hunter pace when Cathy and me helped Carol onto Franklin, for what may well have been her last ride. Such courage and grace, her love of him was undeniable. Thank you for your beautiful example of dignity through pain and suffering. Rest in sweet love and peace with God and the abundant thoughts and prayers of those who loved and cared for you, dear one.
