Colleen KEENAN Obituary

72, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Lutheran Life Villages at Pine Valley. Born in Peoria, IL, Colleen was a lifelong artist and was an educator both in Florida and North Carolina retiring in 2004. She was a member of Inner Light Ministries. She was a daily meditator for the last 25 years. She would have celebrated 32 years of sobriety on January 10, 2013. Colleen never met a stranger, she loved deeply and will be a hard act to follow. Surviving are her two beautiful daughters, Jamie-Jo Perry of VA, Leigh Ilse of Fort Wayne, and her step-daughter, Ann Cox of PA, three extraordinary grandchildren, Garreth and Gillian Gibson and Holden Walker, sisters, Patricia Heinz and Margaret Clough. Colleen was preceded in death by parents, William and Minerva (Blumenshine) Keenan, and the love of her life, Edward A. Watts, and brother, Michael Keenan. There will be a Sunrise Meditation at 8 am with a memorial service beginning at 9:30 am with brunch to follow. on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Inner Light Ministries, 220 Insurance Drive Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association Midwest Chapter, 1800 N. Main Street, Suite 215 Wheaton, IL 60187 or American Stroke Association. D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Having known Colleen for just a short period of time, I always remember her smile and her love for art. I am certain that her canvas in heaven is glorious. May you find comfort in knowing that she is at peace in the arms of her Lord.

We were very saddened to learn of Colleen's death. Colleen had a big heart and a big hug for anyone she met whether friend, family or stranger. Here's hoping that all whose lives she touched will feel her love and will celebrate her life. We will miss her visits very much. You will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
