Don West Obituary

Don E. West
It is with a world of sadness that the family of Don E. West announces his death on June 23, 2021, after an extended illness. Our patriarch will best be remembered for his love of family and generosity of spirit. He died peacefully, surrounded by Martha Morgan, his wife of 37 years; his four children, Marie West-Boyette, Donald West, Nicole Martinez, and Matthew West; and his step-daughter Marcy Morgan. Don leaves behind a huge and grieving family of sisters, in-laws, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Don was born in Kingsport, Tennessee on December 31, 1942. At the age of fourteen, he moved to Lake Worth with his parents, Earl and Lena West, and his sisters, Janet Serrano and Sherry Laufersweiler. After graduating from Lake Worth High in 1960, he joined the army reserves, simultaneously attending the University of Florida where he majored in building construction. He put his degree to work, going into business with his father Earl as West Construction. Martha joined him in the company after they married and later they brought his son Matthew into the business. Don worked very hard his entire life, making West Construction the thriving firm it is today.
There was nothing in the world Don would not do for his family. As we move through our grief, the memory of his kind, gentle, and loving spirit will sustain us. A private memorial will take place for this well-loved man.

My deepest condolences to the entire West family and especially Mrs. Martha. I appreciate the many lessons he taught me as a young professional. I will always treasure the laughs we shared and how kind he was to my family and I. He was a great man who loved his family and work. His legacy will continue to live on.

I came to know Don here at West when I joined the team. Don was always involved with different projects going on. And yes... here very early. We miss him very much. He was funny, kind and soft spoken. "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; All that we LOVE deeply becomes a part of us. " - Helen Keller We miss you Don.. Rest in Paradise

My deepest condolences to the West family for the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in the memories you shared with Mr. West. It was a pleasure to have known him. I was always amazed at how very thoughtful and caring he was towards Ms. Martha and their ritual of making the time to have lunch together each day. I also remembered Mr. West asking me or the other ladies to print him plans which he would give away or misplace, often he would come back to us the next day and ask us to print the same plans, so I learned early on to make a file for the plans that he would ask me to print...A great soul gone too soon. R.I.P. Mr. West.

Don loved his family and friends and loved his work. The sadness I feel from his passing is small compared to the happiness that I have from knowing him. He will be missed by many and always remembered.

I am so glad I got to know Don before his health took a turn. What a pleasure to work for and know personally. He and Martha were always part of my daughters Lupus benefits and walks throughout the years. Don was the light at every Company Christmas Party. Don had the heart of gold and always expressed appreciation. He will be deeply missed. Prayers for the heavy hearts of the family.
