Don,

I had a great childhood, and you and your family were a big reason why. When we were younger, our relationship was more sibling than neighbor. I thank you for being my friend back then. I miss those days in south philly on New Years day and at Tarken playground and in the school yards around our house, and will reflect on them with warm thoughts.

Donny-I am so sorry what all you went through but as your friend and neighbor(Romans13:8-10), I will do just as I promised and continue to look out and take care of Lis and the girls. You will be terribly missed.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Zubawa:

I send my deepest sympathy to you on the passing of your son Don. Don was a great friend at Cardinal Dougherty High School. Don and I sat together at lunch and had several classes.

Don taught me the meaning of the saying “the only thing to fear is fear itself.” For a guy so young (17-18 years at the time) he had the confidence of many great business leaders I have since met. Don had a true kindness that went beyond his smart bravado.

Don always looked at questions and problems from a different prospective. Once drawing a conclusion, or making a plan he would ask “Why not give it a try.” His entrepreneurial sprit was tremendous.

I am sorry I have not stayed in touch with Don for many years, but feel like Don's sprit is with me everyday.

My family sends our deepest prayers to you, Lisa and the children.

Sincerely,

Robert Lobron

To the Zabawa Family:

We were so saddened to read of Donald's passing. We went to grade school with Donald at St. Martin of Tours. When I think of Donald, I remember this chubby little kid always wearing a light blue sweater over his uniform, carrying books and shuffling to his next class. We haven't seen nor talked with Donald in years. I wanted the family to know that we are deeply sorry for your loss. It touches the heart more deeply when you read about someone so young, or one of your peers. We hope Donald's passing was a peaceful one.
