Douglas Raborn Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

DOUGLAS KENT RABORN Doug died of a broken heart, but now I must learn to live with one. I thank all of my friends and family for digging deep within themselves to help me learn how to do that. The words below were written by my beautiful husband who requested they be shared. Tiffany Raborn "February 18, 1957 -May 5, 2008 Douglas Kent Raborn, 51, of Lantana died of a broken heart. He is the son of Robert E. Lee Raborn MD (died 1999) and Lenore Raborn Boonstra, the finest parents anyone could have. Grandson of Boynton pioneers Fred and Laura Benson, and brother to Robin Raborn of Hillsborough CA and Dr. Richard Raborn of Delray Beach. Doug was proudest of his two sons, Alexander Kent, 19, and Zachary Lee, 17 whose birthday was May 4th. He was a loving hands-on father to these handsome, smart, polite gentlemen. His wife, Tiffany Rayburn Raborn was the love of his life and 2007 was the happiest year he ever had with a new marriage and fabulous travel and time with friends. It was an amazing high in an achievement-oriented life with tremendous ups and downs. Doug was second in his class at St. Andrew's and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanderbilt in Economics. He got a law degree and MBA from Vanderbilt and opened "Raborn & Co., Inc." in Delray Beach. Stock picking skills put him on national television and the Wall Street Journal. He loved to play golf at The Country Club of Florida and Pine Tree and 'regale' his partners with an endless stream of jokes. Doug cherished his friends, keeping many from childhood and constantly adding new ones. He had a strong faith in God and the gift of encouraging others through tough times. Doug asks his friends to take an interest in Alex and Zack in his absence. Any memorial gifts he would ask be given to the 'Pavilion' at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in the Raborn name. Watch over my Mom Lenore and those wonderful sons I am so proud of. Keep Tiffany in your thoughts and prayers as she cares for Zack. I just want to let you all know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I was married to Lesley's brother so Doug was my brother in law for years. We had alot of good times and the thing that I will remember most is definitely his sense of humor. He certainly made me laugh. From experience, I know that God holds you through these difficult times. May you feel comfort from him in the days ahead.

Doug Raborn was a personal freind to me. As chef at The Country Club of Florida from 1992-2005 we met each other. When Doug and Leslie were in charge of the Sunday golf tournaments he would come to me with great suggestions(some of them from his dad) hoping to please the crowd and not his own tastes. One event he learned it was my birthday and called me out after dinner and led the members singing Happy Birthday to me. When Doug worked with Heat Cell Tech he confided in me asking my professional opinion on the manufacture and use of the products. I had some opportunities to play golf with Doug. It is some of my fondest memories of the game. Both a serious golfer and a joker he often refered to himself as "Doug Reborn". Mrs. Raborn-Bonestra I share your loss and I too have felt the pain you are experiencing. Time will help and you will always remember Doug as the great son he was and how he adored you and his father. He was so proud of his sons and the personality that they inherited from their father Doug, will always be a reminder of Doug to you. May peace be with you and your family always.
God bless you

To the family of Doug Raborn, my deepest heart felt sympathies. Doug always had a smile when he came in to the office I manage. He loved that I am named Esther and of cause had to tell me all about Esther in the bible. He made a point of making me feel special and not just another "receptionist". God bless you all.
