Edward LARRABEE Obituary

LARRABEE,
Edward Clinton
Died peacefully at his home in West Palm Beach, Florida, on February 18 at the age of 86 after a prolonged illness. Edward Larrabee, was a loving husband and father, avid gardener, and talented craftsman. Born on June 2, 1929, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Lenora and Clinton Larrabee, he was originally from Mankato, Minnesota. He was the youngest of their five sons and attended St. Ann Catholic School. In 1948 he graduated from Palm Beach High School, and in 1950 married Elizabeth Johnson, with whom he had five children. From 1948 to 1954, he served in the National Guard Reserve as a Staff Sergeant and was awarded a Marksmanship Medal for rifle shooting. Following his service, he worked for the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier, retiring after 30 years. Always a strong supporter of unions, he was very active in the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a life-long progressive Democrat, and with his wife supported education for Native American children, American Veterans (AMVETS), and The Lord's Place, a non-profit organization committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness. He was also an active and dedicated member of St. Juliana Catholic Church for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth (Johnson) Larrabee; his children and their spouses: Roxana Coleman (William), Barbara Haag (James), Sylvia Stearn (Mitchell, deceased), Denise Larrabee (Kevin O'Donovan), and Mark Larrabee; grandchildren and their spouses: Victoria Bennett (Joseph Miller), Theresa Hill (Shay), Dena Coleman (Josh Hunter), Clinton Larrabee (Leanne), Olivia Stearn, Anna Stearn, Desmond O'Donovan, and Ethan Larrabee; great-grandchildren Emma Hill and Emalee Hunter; and step-grandsons: Robert and Michael Haag and their families.
