Ferguson ADDISON Obituary

ADDISON, Ferguson Ferguson Lofton Lightbourne Addison, 95, passed away on February 1, 2018. He was born in Punta Gorda, Florida on September 10, 1922, the son of Locke Addison and Missouri Lofton Addison. After graduation from high school he served his country in the United States Naval Reserve from 1942 to 1946. His overseas service was in the British Crown Colony of Trinidad located just off the tip of Venezuela. The Allied service personnel were not permitted to visit Venezuela since it remained a neutral country throughout the war years. Following his naval service he attended Harvard University from which he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English in 1950. He then returned to Florida and helped organize and serve as president of the original Harvard Club of Palm Beach, Florida. Achievements include receiving approval from the Florida Department of State, the nomination of his great-uncle W.S. Lightbourne as a Great Floridian in 2000, and Frances Langford into the Florida Women's Hall of Fame in 2002. Survivors include his niece Virginia Sparks Barnard of Fort Myers and his grandnephew Lancelot Addison Barnard of Tallahassee, Florida. Private services will be held by the family at a later date.

Sending condolences to family & friends. I worked with Fergie in the 1970's and 1980's at First National in Palm Beach. I will always remember his kindness and his special laugh. He was one of the good guys for sure. Rest in Peace, Fergie. You made an impact on a young girl at the time. With love...
