George Apple was an asset to Sagamore and, he was always there. My grandfather built Sagamore and we all worked there (grounds, snack bar, etc) George was certainly a part of the Sagasmore family. We will always remember "Apple"

When I first started playing golf in my early teens, I played most rounds at Sagamore. George was always great to me, asking about my golf, encouraging me, and taking anything I owned in trade for new golf equipment. He had to have thrown most of my trade ins away, because they certainly weren't worth a cent. But that didn't stop him from making the deal, giving me my new equipment for a great price, and keeping a young golfer excited about the game. As I grew older and started working in the golf business, I became even more aware of how good he was to me. He has helped so many people enjoy the game, a simple thank you doesn't seem sufficient. George was light years ahead of his time and will be greatly missed by our profession.

I have many fond memories of working with "Apple" at Sagamore in the late 60's and early 70's. I was happy to hear that he was still playing golf at 95. My grandfather, Elwyn Gay, was "Apple's" caddiemaster at Unicorn. "Apple" will be missed by many.

Sarah,Anna and family it was with great sadness to read early this morning about George death.Bob was telling me how he was about seven years old when they moved to George Father home on Gerry St in Stoneham And her was tellling me how great his family was to him and when he was about nine years he was one of the caddies that George had charge of and taught them all the rule of golf
taught all caddies how to be a real gentleman etc And when our son Kim took up Golf we took him to Sagamore to get him his first set of clubs One thing asbout George he was an honest person and always willing to help anyone at any time He was a super person and one always got the truth from him and he was always their to help people . This is one family who George has helped and always was a true friend to us all So Sarah and Anna our prayers are with you today and always and he will be remember in our prayers We are now living in Orlando Florida but for health reasons we wont be able to go to George service today our prayers and thought are with you all God Bless you all

Mr. Apple,
I am going to miss you - Saturday mornings at Sagamore aren't the same - I miss getting your milk and juice for you in the morning and making your "special" sandwich in the afternoon. You are a wonderful man and surely missed.
