Hiller MASKER Obituary

MASKER, Hiller
Hiller Masker, 92, of Greenacres, FL, died on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015 of aspiration pneumonia. Hiller was born on June 9, 1923 in DeKalb, IL, the son of Paul and Sophia Maskar. He attended The Chicago Institute of Design run by famed artist Moholy Nagy in The Bauhaus tradition and stayed on to teach there through 1952. Over the next 63 years he enjoyed diverse careers in photography, teaching, furniture design and hand carved jewelry. Sailing was his life's passion. In the early 1970's he spent a couple of years sailing in The Caribbean with his family. In 1979 he moved aboard his sailing vessel home with his wife Christine and over the next 25 years traveled to The Caribbean, across the "pond" to Spain and Portugal and throughout The South Pacific as far as Australia. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine Masker, and daughters, Daryl Knight (and husband Richard Knight) of Martha's Vineyard, MA, and Deborah Katharine Maskar (and husband Bruce Schimmel) of Philadelphia, PA. He has two grandchildren, Benjamin Knight and Gabrielle Knight. He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
