McGILL, James "Jim" Allen

James "Jim" Allen McGill, 74, of Jupiter, FL, died on July 21, 2013 after a fall while vacationing in North Carolina. He was born in Valparaiso, IN on March 31, 1939 son of Mathew McGill and Marguerite Schau McGill both deceased. Survived by his wife of 25 years, Adrienne McGill; son, David McGill wife, Jalyn of Paducha, KY; daughter, Diane Wesch husband, Richard of Hernando, FL; stepchildren, Penny Monroe, Ed Monroe, Tammy Pratt husband, Ron, Terry Monroe deceased wife, Sherry; brothers, Richard McGill Valparaiso, IN, Robert McGill wife, Alicia of Tampa, FL; sisters, Patricia Durand husband, Charles of Rice Lake, WI, Barbara Prescott of Phoenix, AZ and many grandchildren nieces and nephews and friends. Jim graduated high school in Valparaiso, IN and graduated from McMurray College in Jacksonville, IL. He served in the Army as a Sargent. He was an avid photographer and worked for the Gary Post Tribune in Gary, IN as a staff photographer for 28 years and was once nominated for the "Pulitzer Prize", he was the President of the newspaper guild. After retiring he worked in the storage industry in Florida for over 20 years. He loved playing Santa Claus and participating in the Hemingway look alike contests which he won in Oak Park, IL. He enjoyed participating in church activities, dinner and a movie and working at the Food Bank. He was a big sports fan his favorites were the Chicago Cubs and Bears and he loved golf, also he was a huge Gator fan. Jim will be sorely missed by his family many friends and "his cats". Memorial Service will be held on August 10 at 2:00PM at the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church on Ellison Wilson Rd. in Juno Beach. Pastor Frank Wagner presiding.

I can only imagine how joyful the meeting was when Jesus took Jim into his arms and was able to welcome him home. Although on earth we are sad, in Heaven there is a rejoicing. I pray that we can all be comforted knowing that one day we will see him again. I love you, Grandma.

Sorry to lose my Uncle Jim. He photographed myself and brother Doug for the Tribune as both our birthdays were on Valentines Day. I fondly remember all the family picnics and holidays. He was a sweet man.
