I was shocked and very sorry to hear that Jim had passed away. Today when I stopped in the office to see Larry & Kitty they told me the news. Jim was one of the kindest people I have ever met. Over the years as we worked together it was very clear how important his family was to him. Recently, Jim had called me & my husband to give his sympathy to us for a recent loss we had. He truly was a loving & caring man and always had the very best of intentions. I will always remember him and I will pray for you all that you will find peace.

Dear Simons Family,
I was saddened to learn of Jim's passing. Although he was known far and wide - and most certainly here in my adopted town - as a great golfer, I remember Jim as an ethical, kind and principled classmate who could be counted upon to take the high road in every endeavor.
Shortly after I met Jim in third grade, I remember that he was kind and supportive after a piece of my artwork became a class joke. Because of that act of kindness, from nearly fifty years ago, I had the courage to go to school the next day. This was not an isolated incident.
Jim was an inspiration to those of us who wanted to do the right thing, but may have been tempted to do otherwise. He was, quite simply, a good man to follow. God bless you all.

Dear Orpah, Ralph, Sally, Linda and Nancy,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have so many fond memories of Jim. Bill's favorite is retrieving golf balls from #10 lake and cleaning them in Lil's washing machine, which was never the same. Playing with Jim always brought out the best in my game.
We are deeply saddened by your loss,

To the Simons Family,
I am truly sorry for your loss and will miss "Uncle" Jim. I have known Jim my entire life and will always be grateful for my time with him. When he would stay at our house, he always took time with me to work on my golf game. I will always remember being taught how to hit "spinning" chip shots from the back of the Butler Country Club's putting green. I also remember catching the first few a little thin and the sound of a line driving golf ball hitting a car. Nonetheless, Jim talked and taught on. This is one of the many fond memories I will always keep of "Uncle" Jim.
My regards to his parents, to his sisters and to his sons.

I am saddened my the lost of a true friend and wonderfull person. I was very fortunate to have worked on tour for Jim for all of the 80's and then some. He always treated you as a equal and in my profession thats a rarity. I had spent a little time with him in Jacksonville this year during the TPC tournament we had a laugh and he was positive as always about the future, He always made you feel important because he was such a great listener. I am a better person because of him and a better caddy just to have been around him. I send my deepest sympathy to all of his family and hope that all his boys grow up to be the great man his dad was . Jim Simons footprints are embeded in golf history forever . he surely will be missed he made me a better person and I thank god for that . Hopefully I will get to see him again in a different life time and walk along side him like I had done for so many years sincerly: his friend and his caddy, GYPSY

Dear Simons Family,
I join Jim's many friends in writing to you with a broken heart. Jim was a warm and happy friend, great teammate and school pal, and a boyhood hero for so many of us who grew up in the light of his amazing achievements.
Jim reached heights that most of us could only dream of, and along that spectacular way, he so nicely allowed us to share in his grand successes.
I'll always remember that wonderful photo in your family room of a smiling, teenage Jim, with his teddy-bear haircut, beneath the embracing arm of Arnie Palmer. I imagine after playing a round together.
Still, Jim always managed to let us think that a bruising game of hoops in your barn, or his hitting a handful of jumpshots in a JV basketball game against Mars were somehow as much fun as playing in the U.S. Open.
I join many in mourning his passing, celebrating his life and accomplishments, cherishing his friendship, and remembering him with joy and affection. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Orpah, Ralph, Sally, Linda, and Nancy: There are just no words that can express our deep sympathy to all of you. We were so glad on our last visit to Florida, that we were able to spend a little time with Jim and watch him shoot baskets with the Haberlein kids in their driveway. We, too, are saddened by Jim's death and wish we could be with you at this time. Talk to the Lord. He will help you through this most difficult time as will Naomi. So glad she is there with you. We love you all,

Dear Simons Family,
Jim has been a dear friend of ours for many years. We adopted him into our family and he adopted us. We shared many dinners, golf lessons, and good times together. He always had a smile and a story to share. The story was usually about golf, or about how much he loved his family.
To Mom, Dad and Sisters: he spoke of you often and loved you very much. Our sympathy, love, and prayers go out to you. Take comfort in knowing Jim is with the Lord.

Dear Ralph, Orpah, Sally, Nancy and Linda,
Words cannot express the sadness and shock of learning about Jim. Jim was a good friend and I will always remember the great times we had playing many rounds of golf at Butler Country Club as we were growing up. I often relate to people how we used to play 36 holes or more every day, pausing only for a homemade sandwich under the maple trees in front of the club house. It was also fun to see him turn those early rounds of golf into a successful venture on the PGA tour.
My deepest sympathy goes to each of you in this hour of sadness. Jim will be missed by the many good friends he made around the country.

To all of the Simons Family: What can I say about Jim: he was the consumate Gentleman, always helpful and always ready to greet a friend from Knoch. I played may a round with him during our younger years as a member of the early Knoch Golf team. His great talent was always paired with a friendliness that I cherished. Once at the Jackie Gleason Open, he recognized me in the gallery, and he reached out to me with all of the friendliness that I knew from our Knoch days. He will always have a special place in my heart. To Sally, Your brother was special, and you and your parents have my deepest sympathy.
