Family-Placed Funeral Notice

LAWRENCE MICHAEL WALD 77, of Kensington Place, Asheville went to be with his Lord, Friday, August 24, 2007 in Oteen Veterans Hospital. He was a native of Campbell, KY, the son of the late Louis and Nora Tierney Wald. He was married to Rose Marie Wald who passed away in 2000. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean War. Mr. Wald was a retired police detective with the West Palm Beach Police Dept. and was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church in Asheville. Surviving are two sons, David Michael Wald and his wife Mary of Black Mountain, NC and Michael Lawrence Wald of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Louis Wald. Graveside services were held at 3:00 PM Tuesday in Patton United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kent Whittington officiating. Franklin VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 conducted military graveside rites. Memorials may be made in Mr. Wald's name to the Biltmore Baptist Church, 35 Clayton Road, Arden, NC 28704.
