Martha STRAUB Obituary
73, of Wheeling, W.Va. and North Palm Beach, Fla., died Monday, November 24, 2014, in Wheeling. After a long and courageous battle with lung cancer, Marcy passed away peacefully in the company of her dear friend, Polly Churilla.
Born February 2, 1941 in Wheeling, W.Va., Marcy was the youngest daughter of the late John Wilbur Jamison and the late Martha Lynn Jamison. Marcy was a member of STOP! Children's Cancer, the Animal Rescue League of the Palm Beaches, and volunteered at her childrens' schools, churches, and the Junior League of Wheeling. She was an avid tennis player, skier, golfer, and boater. She loved nothing more than being with family and friends. She lived a full life to her very last day.
In addition to her parents, Marcy is preceded by her beloved husband of 44 years, George Edward Straub. She is also preceded by her brother, Richard Jamison, her sister, Beverly Jamison Bandola and her step-mother, Mary Helen Jamison.
Surviving Marcy are her three children, Glenn Edward and his wife Karen, Melissa Lynette and her husband Patrick, and Cassey Jo; eight loving grandchildren, Alexis, Bradley, Kaitlyn, Caroline, Lauren Jackson, George, and Charlotte; two brothers, Phillip Jamison and his wife and dear friend Jackie, and John Jamison and his wife Marilyn; Last but not least, she leaves behind some of the most incredible friends and family around the country without which life would not have been worthwhile.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 1 pm at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheeling with Rev. Thomas Gallagher as celebrant. A private interment for the family will be held at West Alexander Cemetery immediately following. A Celebration of Marcy's life will commence at 4 pm at the Wheeling Country Club. All are invited to join.
Memorial donations in Marcy's Honor may be made to Liza's Place Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, Ohio, 43943.
