Nicholas ROJO Obituary
Nicholas A. Rojo, M.D., 60 years old, of Singer Island, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2013, after a brief illness. Dr. Rojo was born in Havana, Cuba on January 20, 1953 to Alberto and Elena Rojo. He moved to Miami with his family in 1961 where he attended St. Joseph's Elementary School, Archbishop Curley High School and the University of Miami. After completing his residency in Diagnostic Radiology and his fellowship in Nueroradiology at Mt. Sinai in Miami Beach, he moved with his family to Palm Beach County in 1983 where he began his career at St. Mary's Medical Center. Dr. Rojo served as Chairman of the Department of Radiology and held various other administrative roles at St. Mary's throughout his 20-year tenure at the hospital. In 2003 he joined the Radiology department at Jupiter Hospital where he subsequently became chairman of the department and later served as Medical Director of the Outpatient Imaging Center. Throughout his 30-year career in medicine Dr. Rojo held various patents and was responsible for innovations in his field. He was a member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre and the Order of Malta. Dr. Rojo was a car enthusiast, recreational pilot and enjoyed traveling and working out. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and was a friend to all. Dr. Rojo is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pat; his children, Patricia, Cristina and Nicholas; his grandchildren, Lily and Ricky; and his sister, Elena R. Estella. Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, July 22, 2013 at QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL HOME, 1201 S. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, North Palm Beach, with interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park, Tequesta, FL. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Five years have passed since we lost Dr. Rojo -- or as he insisted "Nick." A consummate caring professional. We were neighbors and he was also our doctor. Always caring and thoughtful. We will always miss him.

Seems like yesterday.Consultations about patients with Nick, day or night. Superb image analyses. But, somehow, always, the discussion would inevitably turn to how proud he was of his family. His children, his wife, and everyone in his family were loved deeply by Nick.He will not be forgotten.May he Rest In Peace.

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Rojo. My mother Suzanne Wallis who recently passed was Pat's fathers nurse at Glades General Hospital and I was the lucky caretaker of the family pet Pavarotti for many years when the family would visit the kids at college or when they went on vacation. Dr. Nicholas was a kind caring and friendly man. My Heart breaks for Pat and The Children for the loss of such a wonderful husband and father. May God Bless and comfort you all. I worked with Dr. Rojo since 1985 and had the pleasure of being involved with one of the world's finest physicians and human beings. He was alway caring and helpful without any demands, always taking time to help others. He was a role model who will be sorely missed and will always be remembered by his coworkers and friends.

I am in such shock over the news of Dr.Rojo's passing and very, very saddened. I had the privilege of working with him at both St.Mary's and Jupiter Hospital. He was an exceptional physician in every sense of the word. Even at 3am bringing to him very critical trauma patients for emergency procedures, he was calm, caring, compassionate, patient and a teacher. He was a professional and a gentlman. He was a rare find in today's world and we are forever blessed for having him here on this earth for the time he was here.

Dr. Rojo was the doctor you wanted to see come in the exam room during stressful times. The comfort and ease that he brought to many patients and co workers was so natural. He always found a way to create humor in everything, making everyone smile. I had the honor of working with Dr. Rojo at Jupiter Medical Center for the past seven years. I was a new Speech Pathologist, fresh out of school still learning the tricks of the trade and very intimidated by the radiology procedures I had to do. Dr. Rojo was very patient with me and educated me with dignity and respect.
Working in a hospital can be very stressful and Dr. Rojo was calm, serene, and patient, with staff as well as patients and their family members, especially when we had to complete pediatric procedures.
The word that comes to my mind to represent him could only be "ZEN" because that's what he was and how he made me feel. He was truly wonderful man who touched me emotionally and professionally and for that I will always be thankful that I had the honor and privilege to know him and learn from his guidance. Thank you, Dr. Rojo.
