DEMICK, Paul E.

Dr. Paul E. Demick, of Stuart, FL, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2014. Born in Orleans, VT, Paul was an exceptional athlete and the valedictorian of his high school class. After serving in the Navy, he graduated from Harvard University with a degree in business and then received a medical degree from the University of Vermont, School of Medicine. Paul and his wife of 63 years Persis, were married in Irasburg, VT and moved to Florida in 1955. Demick & Wargo PA, was formed, and Paul served the communities of Delray Beach and Boca Raton as an OB/GYN for more than 30 years. Paul was a leader in the community and helped guide the Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Boca Raton Community hospitals through years of expansion. He was a member the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and President of the Delray Beach Kiwanis Club. An accomplished golfer, Paul won more than 20 club championships and dozens of amateur competitions throughout the country. He also competed successfully in four US Senior Amateur golf championships. Paul was a wonderful man who always made time for everyone around him. He loved spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren; and particularly loved being with them in the mountains of North Carolina. Paul is survived by his beloved wife Persis; two sons and their families; Paul and Denise Demick, Atlanta, GA, and Jim and Gigi Demick, Tampa, FL. He had four grandchildren, Patrick Demick and Andrea Demick of Atlanta; and Katherine Demick and Paul Demick II of Tampa. A private service will be held this summer in Linville, NC.
