TO MY "OTHER" MOTHER

"You are the other Mother I received, the day I wed your son. And I want to thank you Mom, for the loving things you've done. You've given me a gracious Man, with whom I share my life. You are his lovely Mother, and I his lucky wife. You used to pat his little head, and now I hold his hand. You raised in love a little boy, and then gave to me a Man."

How precious you have been and always will be, as the "Mom" who gave me the most precious gift a Mother could have.

I miss you Grandma. I am glad you are not in any more pain. I'm sorry I could not bring Tori to see you, but I know you will get to see her everyday now and watch her grow up. I will never forget you singing and me and Papa dancing to Lawrence Welk. Now you get to dance with him by yourself. You were both special grandparents and I love you very much.

Grandma,

Thanks for the sugar cookies and letting us swim in the pool a bit earlier than Grandpa's "30 minutes after eating" rule mandated. I'll miss our trips to the dog races and your wonderful breakfasts. It's comforting to know you and Grandpa are together again and forever shall remain so. We love you!!

Hi, Mom,

Just a quick note:

I just returned from visiting Dad's (and your) grave site(s) with Bobby and Sis (or Beart and Piffy, as my side of the family knows them). I know you are now agony-free and happy to be with your loving True-blue-Lou, in Heaven. We all hope to be with you and Dad again, up there, one of these days, and that the memorial service we (mostly Piffy, of course - THANKS, POOF!) have arranged for you makes you and Dad smile and proud of the whole fam-damly you brought into this world ... and continue to bring (the Willhoit clan has always been a fertile lot [Right, Louissimo? Right, Charlemagne? Right {but not so quick}, Drew-man?]).

Mom, I'll leave you with your favorite song (but my family is thankful [Right, Maria?] that only YOU can hear me singing it now -smile- -sob-):

Que sera, sera. "Whatever will be, will be." The future's not ours to see. Que sera, sera.

When I was just a little boy, I asked my mother, what would I be? Would I be happy? Would I be sad? What would the future bring? ...

Deepest heart-felt and eternal love,

Your first-born "Boy",

Chipper

P.S. We'll spread some mild Gardenia scent around your casket. It was either that or the smell of (sinus-startling) Super Blue Stuff that we knew would be your preferred "forget-me-not" aroma ... for the sake of the other guests, we chose Gardenias.

P.P.S. We all loved and still love you dearly, my "Determined German" Mom. As Dad knew from the day he met you at that warm, south Florida, 4th-of-July picnic (and told us frequently), you were/are the BEST! ... but your sweet "always-here-for-you" daughter, Phyllis [Jr.], and my caring Nurse Practioner wife, Patricia, are not far behind.

P.P.P.S. You know how hard it is to end these quick notes sometimes?

P.P.P.P.S. Night night, sleep tight, Mama Mia ... And as to the answer to the song question above: I am happy. Thank you for everything ...

-sigh-

...

We will miss you, Grandma... particularly the sugar cookies and popsicles that were always waiting for us when we came to visit. I will miss your eggs and bacon and the trips to see the dogs. I hope that you and Grandpa are dancing to Lawrence Welk and laughing like I always remember.

It was a pleasure knowing you all of these years. You gave me a best friend in your only daughter. You gave the world two very smart and good sons. You were a faithful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Your grandchildren made you proud and you were able to see your greatgrandchild. Well done for this earthly life. With love and respect, Marcia Miller
