DUCKETT, Jr., Ralph Truett
(April 30, 1935 - January 12, 2017) Ralph Duckett, passed away January 12, 2017 at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, FL from natural causes. He was born to Ralph Sr. and Pearle Duckett in Greenville, SC. Raised in Washington, DC. Graduated McKinley High School 1953. While attending Montgomery College in pursuit of an electrical engineering degree, he was recruited by AT&T where he had a 25 year career. He later was the founder and CEO of MMI of Northern Virginia (a general contracting firm) for 15 years before retiring to Florida in 1995. Arriving at PGA National he became active in the USTA tennis program where he captained many championship teams. For many years he was involved with the FAU/Lifelong Learning Society in Jupiter, FL. As the President of Home Watch Professional he managed many properties in Palm Beach County for absentee owners. Ralph was a past member of the PGA National Board of Governors, The PGA National Tennis Committee and the past President of Marlwood Estates HOA and a Life member of U. S. Tennis Association. He was a founding director of the Bob Swanson Give-A-Life Foundation. Carol Lee (Mc Gowan) Duckett, his wife of 27 years and mother of his two children, predeceased him in 1982. He is survived by his friend and companion of 24 years, Judy Bernstein, two sons and their families, Ralph Duckett III "Dusty" and Melinda Duckett of Cary, NC and Dale and Pamela Duckett of Poplar Bluff, MO as well as three grandchildren, Drew, Christie and Loren. His extended family consists of, Michael, Robin, Jeremy, Rachel and Anne Bernstein, of San Antonio, TX and Mac, Amy, Jennie and Jessie McCarthy of Tulsa, OK. A memorial service will be held at Temple Judea, 4311 Hood Road, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to FAU/Lifelong Learning Society in Jupiter, FL.
