Family-Placed Funeral Notice

ROGER D. HORNE Mr. Roger D. Horne, age 66, of My Way Rd., Blairsville, GA, formerly of Jupiter, FL, passed away on Monday August 29, 2005 in the Fannin Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Horne was born on January 31, 1939 in West Palm Beach, FL, the son of the late Kenneth M. Horne and the late Alice Corrine Horne. Mr. Horne was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Horne in 2003. He had retired from Pratt-Whitney Aerospace after 34 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, a member of the VFW Post 7394, a member of the North Georgia Honor Guard, the Dooley Lodge #367 F&AM, a Past Commander and member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Payne Camp of Blairsville, and a member of the Union County Historical Society. Mr. Horne was of the Methodist faith. Surviving Mr. Horne are two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Donna Horne of Dallas, GA, Wayne and Dana Horne of Lithonia, GA; three brothers, Kenneth Horne Jr. of Dallas, TX, Wilson R. Horne and Neil A. Horne both of Jupiter, FL; two sisters, Ramona Stark of Hobe Sound, FL, Vera Brooker of Vero Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Russell, Kenneth, Collin, Alex and Kristin Horne; many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 2, 2005 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy McIntyre officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the North GA. Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Pine Top Baptist Church cemetery with the North GA. Honor Guard conducting military honors. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of the arrangements. You may sign the family guest book and send condolences online at www.mountainviewfuneralhome.com
