Family-Placed Obituary

THOMAS EDWARD OXLEY Of Highland Beach, FL died in his home surrounded by his family Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the age of 65. He was born in Tulsa, OK, on August 13, 1944, the youngest child of John and Mary Oxley. He was born into a polo playing family and rode horseback from the age of three on the family farm. After graduating from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1962, he attended Cornell University where he played arena polo, then graduated with honors from Florida Atlanta University in Boca Raton, FL in December of 1966. For almost two years Tom, his brother, Jack and father, John were an unstoppable team at polo tournaments nationwide. Tom became the Voice of Polo at Royal Palm Polo, a position he held for thirty-five years. He is survived by his brother, John C. Oxley, sister Mary Jane Tritsch, his children Diane, Debbie, Brent, and Chantelle; grandchildren, Steven and wife Cristine, Nicole, Danielle, Christian, Campbell and Jackson, and two great grandchildren, Caydence and Carlie. Tom Oxley leaves behind an incredible legacy of love, laughter, and generosity for all those who knew him. Florida funeral services will be held at The Lifelong Learning Center on the Florida Atlantic University's Boca Raton campus at 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL on Monday, December 21 at 2 PM with Reverend Randolph Patterson officiating. A reception will follow at the Tom Oxley Athletic Center. There will be a viewing Monday at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1353 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL from 11 AM to 1 PM before the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Babione Funeral Home, East Boca. Oklahoma funeral services will be held graveside at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 S. Memorial Drive in Tulsa on Wednesday, December 23 at 10 AM with Reverend Rick Davis officiating. Reception will follow at the Memorial Park Family Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore Funeral Home Eastlawn Chapel in Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Tom Oxley to the FAU Foundation 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL 33431 or the Museum of Polo & Hall of Fame, 9011 Lake Worth Road, Lake Worth, FL 33467.
