Thomas Andrew RATZ

1969 - 2018

Thomas Andrew Ratz was born May 4, 1969 and died suddenly on May 20, 2018. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on July 15 at 11:00AM, Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 390 South Sequoia Drive, West Palm Beach, next to Cardinal Newman High School. Thomas was raised in the West Palm Beach area, graduated from Cardinal Newman High School, and attended Purdue University in Lafayette, IN. Thomas passed away unexpectedly in May after a two week vacation in Austria. Father Underwood conducted a service on May 27, 1:00PM, at Hippensteel Furneral Home in Lafayette with family and close friends in attendance and was cremated. The next day, May 28, 70 to 100 people turned out for a Memorial Service for him at The Merou Grotto from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. Many people stood and shared how Thomas had touched their lives and helped them out without expecting any recompense for his time or service. Did not matter if it was for groceries to help out with food or driving them to a doctor's appointment. Or bringing them breakfast every day to be sure they ate that day. "Tiny", as he was know by them, will be greatly missed by all of them. He was a notorious "Gamer". His "HUGE" library of various games and books will become a Memorial for him and everyone will have access to it. "Tiny" was also an active member of SCA, the Society Creative Anachronism. Many knew him as "Matthias Rosenstern", his character. Both his personal, Tomas Andreas Ratz, and "Character Persona" are still active on Facebook. Thomas is survived by his parents, Hans and Erlene, a brother, Michael Gregor, many cousins, and friends.
