Ursula Brodek, beloved wife of Haskell Brodek, passed away peacefully on Mother's Day morning. She was 98 years old, eight months shy of her 99th birthday. Haskell preceded her in death in 2005. She is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Dunn and Dalia Stine, both residents of Denver, CO. Ursula was a Holocaust survivor, she was a pioneer along with Haskell in creating a kibbutz called Gvar Am. Both her parents were murdered by the Nazis, her mother was killed in Auschwitz. She and Haskell immigrated to the United States in 1957, and settled in New York City in the Washington Heights neighborhood. In 1964, the family moved to Canarsie and then to Starrett City. In 1989, Ursula and Haskell relocated to West Palm Beach in Century Village. She lived there until two years ago when she moved to Brookdale West Palm Beach, an assisted living facility. Ursula had a rich and fulfilling life, she loved to exercise, loved classical music, she sang in the Songbirds for many years, and sang with the choral group at Brookdale. She will be terribly missed.
