Vera Maury Obituary

VERA IONE MAURY Age 94, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully November 16, 2002. Vera was born, Vera Ione Miller October 12, 1908, in Ithaca, Michigan to Jay Miller and Hazel Allen Miller. Attended Ithaca High School and moved to Lansing, Michigan, where she graduated from Central High School. She lived in Detroit for awhile, where she met and married Oliver David (Dick) Maury. They moved back to Lansing, Michigan to open the first of several bowling centers in 1936. Retired to Bellaire, Michigan and Juno Beach, Florida. Vera was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Lansing, Bellaire Community United Methodist Church and Jupiter, Florida, First United Church of Christ. In 1996 her beloved husband Oliver (Dick) Maury preceded her in death. Vera is survived by two children, son and wife, Richard and Cheryl Maury, daughter and her friend, Bonnie Maury and Bill Foster. One granddaughter, Rhonda Zwade and her husband Don. Four great grandchildren, Braden, Karli, Mitchell and Anna Zwade. The family will respect Vera's wish for no funeral or memorial service. Those who wish may offer memorials in her memory to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407.
