A person would always have a good time being with Wally no matter what was going on.
Another year another time still thinking of haircuts at the barber shop with Wall
Nothing going on when we went in but when we would leave everything was going on.

My Uncle Wally,
There are no words to express my sorrow and shock over losing you, yet there aren't enough to tell you how special you are to me and my family.
I have such great memories of you dressing up as Santa for me, then my sister, then my own son, Morgan. You were always ready to entertain with the dancin' lady tatoo and the ol' suck the eyeball up the nose trick (Troy's favorite!). I am especially grateful that you and Aunt Becky came to stay with us over the holidays last year. Having you there to watch my kids open their presents on Christmas morning (and test drive the toys!)is something I will never forget.
No holiday or family gathering will ever be the same without your unmistakable laughter as you and my dad have your traditional, good-natured banter.
These are just some of the countless great memories of you that I will always cherish.

I love you and miss you,
Michell Leonard

The more I've learned about Wally, the more I've found to admire. We were just getting to know him better since he & Becky started summering in NY. We were looking forward to having them around here for a few months, spending time together and gathering with family.

I mentioned to Wally & Becky that mom could use a ramp so she could more easily access her garage. The next thing I knew, there they were building two ramps and refusing to take any money from her, even to cover the cost of materials. It's amazing how much of a difference those ramps have made in mom's life. When we had a crisis this summer in my own family, Wally was one of the first people I contacted. He counseled us a couple of times and it made such a big difference to have support & knowledge from such a compassionate, non-judgmental and experienced person.

I envy those of you who were able to spend more time with Wally. His kindness, gentle spirit, generosity, and joy made him the type of person people gravitated towards. We mourn the loss of this beloved man.

Wally,
It is only now I can begin to express myself.
We are brothers and I love you for all the goodness in life you represent to so many. A quick smile, a hardy hug and a gentleness unlike I have ever known.
Your great stories, with just enough truth to be believed, reflected that "larger than life" personality. Your booming voice mixed with that impish grin will be remembered by all who knew you. Especially, by the many you helped along the way, each, no doubt, better off today for having met you.
Rest easy, we'll take good care of Becky, Smokey and Acee. I promise.
I love you brother and I'll see ya on the other side.

Dear Sister Becky,

I have no words...but I have this photo which right now is somehow very special to me.

On my last visit with Wally in ICU, I lifted his head and I told him that I loved him but that I had to go back to Florida for now. He turned his head, opened his eyes all the way for the first time, and mouthed back to me "I love you too Babe." Some may say he was chewing on his tube but I know better.

I love you with all my heart and will always be there for you.

Wally is helping others now as he always did. He'd not only give you the shirt off his back, he'd give you the skin too if you needed it.

Dear BECKY
Im so saddened to hear about the loss of Wally , he sure was a special guy. I was blessed to be able to work side by side with him for many years at palm beach iron works, and I learned much of what I know today about steel fabrication from him and I am greatful. He stopped by the shop a couple years ago to say hi to us all and he seemed to be so happy at this point in his life , It seemed we did a lot of catching up in a short amount of time and that was cool.I have a lot of great memories of him going way back to that little sail boat that meant so much to him,and the name WALLY etched in the concrete at the shop , I could go on and on.I allways admired his dedication to his family and his willingness to help others in need, he will be greatly missed, I guess heaven needed him to come home. May GOD Bless you with comfort that passeth all understanding at this difficult time.

I know that I have already signed, but I wanted to share a few things with friends and family of my Uncle Wally:
I am lucky because I have two first memories of him. I would like to share them both as well as the last time I got to be with him.
My first memory of Uncle Wally was when I was a little girl. I remember Uncle Wally dressing as Santa. He walked over to me all dressed up and I looked up at him and said, "Hi Uncle Wally!" He couldn't fool me. I loved him too much. The next memory I have of him was when Grandma Dorothy passed. I sat next to Uncle Wally and he held my hand at the service. He always thanked me after even recently and told me how much he appreciated me being there for him when his mother passed. I had a very special and close realtionship to Uncle Wally, which brings me to my next story. About 2 weeks before August 31, I had recieved a text message on my cell phone from him. I taught him how to text me so we could always keep in touch when he and Aunt Becky moved to Alabama. He said, "Hey Babe! Just wanted you to know I am thinking about you and that I miss you and love you very much. I can't wait to see you for Thanksgiving." It always meant so much to me to get those. It was very special to me and I will never forget it. Thank you Uncle Wally for always being such a wonderful man to look up to. I love you so much.
Love, Your Lil' Darlin'.
