Alvin Jay Beutel

TREMONT - Alvin Jay Beutel, 93, of Tremont, passed away August 19, 2024, at his home.
He was born June 17, 1931, in Tremont, to William and Rosina Pflederer Beutel. He married Carol Lucille Fehr on April 22, 1956, in Roanoke, and she survives.
Also surviving are his children: Daniel Beutel of Tremont, Richard (Naida) Beutel of Morrisville, VT, Gene (Lynne) Beutel of Ellington, CT, and Colleen (Mark) Moser of Tremont; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Fred (Jeannette) Beutel of Tremont and Phil (Darlene) Beutel of New Bern, NC; two sisters: Helen (Roy-deceased) Zimmerman of Roanoke and Annette (Ernie-deceased) Schambach of Tremont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters: Trudy Beutel and Amy Crumbo; one brother, Dave Beutel; and four sisters: Mary Eisenmann, Nancy Koch, Ruth Koch, and Barbara Moser.
Alvin graduated from Tremont High School and served as a medic in the Army during the Korea War.
He briefly worked at Caterpillar Inc but was a grain and hog farmer most of his working career. He also drove a school bus for the Tremont School District.
He was an active member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Tremont, where he served as song leader, Sunday school teacher, and trustee. He enjoyed the fellowship with his church family and his army buddies. Many times, their family vacations were planned around his army reunions.
He served as a 4-H leader, was an EMT and an active member of the Tremont Rescue 702 board.
His funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Tremont. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall and from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Tremont. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be Tremont Rescue or Apostolic Christian LifePoints in Morton.
