Caryl Louise Atkinson

Caryl Louise Atkinson, Austin, Texas, born February 2, 1945, died July 29, 2025.

She grew up in Anchor, Ill. Daughter of Dudley and Maxine Bridges; sister, Kay Jenkins (Wayne), La Fayette, Ill; and brother, Dennie Bridges (Rita), Bloomington, Ill.

Married John Atkinson May 5, 1968, in Anchor, Ill. John died in 1997.

Surviving are two daughters, Christy Gessler, Austin, Texas and Lesley Linscott, Denver Colo.; three grandchildren, Reagan and Joseph Gessler and John Baker Linscott.

Caryl graduated from Octavia High School Colfax, Ill., in 1963. After graduation, she attended Northern Illinois University.

After their marriage Caryl and John located in North Dakota, where John was stationed in the Air Force. For most of their lives they lived in Walworth, Wisc. Caryl worked at the Walworth Family Medical Center and for Royal Basket Trucks, supporting the startup of the family business. Caryl's focus was to be a good wife and mother.

After John's death, Caryl lived for a number of years in Bloomington, Ill. before moving to Austin, Texas.
