Donna Eaton Obituary

Donna (Rodino) Eaton

November 1, 1949 - May 5, 2025

Donna (Rodino) Eaton, 75, of Pontiac, Ill., passed away on May 5, 2025, surrounded by family at her home. She was born on November 1, 1949, in Pontiac, Ill., to John and Jeanette (Wharrie) Rodino. Donna was a lifelong educator, passionate runner, and beloved family member.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, located at 903 W. Custer Avenue, Pontiac, IL 61764. Per her wishes, there will not be a service after the visitation and a private family graveside will be held at a later date in South Side Cemetery in Pontiac.

Calvert and Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, is entrusted with her arrangements.

A 1967 graduate of Pontiac Township High School, Donna went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Illinois State University in 1971. She dedicated 33 years of her life to teaching in District 50 Schools in Washington, Ill., retiring in 2005. Her impact on the lives of her students was immeasurable, and she was known for her dedication, patience, and caring nature.

Donna married Harry (Dennis) Eaton on December 21, 1969, and they shared a life of adventure. At the age of 34, Donna took up running at the encouragement of a friend from Metamora and her husband. What started as a suggestion became a lifelong passion. Donna ran 10 marathons, often using them as a reason to travel, and was proud that her nieces and nephews also developed an interest in running, even if it was just for a season.

Donna was a treasured sister to Ruth Coyne, Alice Peck, Lorri Rodino, and John T. Rodino. She was also a devoted aunt to her many nieces and nephews, who were a constant source of joy and pride in her life. Her family will forever remember her not just for the stories she shared, but for the kindness and warmth she brought to everyone she met.

Donna's zest for life, her commitment to her family, and her passion for running made her a very special person. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
