Doris Tronc Obituary

Doris E. Tronc

Jan. 12, 1926 - April 18, 2024

PONTIAC - In Loving Memory of Doris E. Tronc.

Doris E. Tronc, a cherished matriarch, devoted wife, nurturing mother, and beloved grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 3:35 p.m. at Evenglow Senior Living in Pontiac, IL. She was a beacon of love and faith to all who knew her.

Doris was born on January 12, 1926, in Pontiac, IL, to Otto and Pearl (Green) Ripsch. Raised in the tight-knit community of McDowell, IL, she exemplified kindness and compassion from an early age. It was during her high school years that Doris encountered the love of her life, Paul, to whom she married on December 24, 1945.

A dedicated homemaker and mother to her children: Mike, Mark, and Elaine, Doris infused her household with warmth, love, and unwavering faith. Her commitment to her family and her church was profound.

Doris found immense joy in teaching Sunday School at Emmanuel, singing in the church choir, and participating in Youth Fellowship, Sunshine Club and the Women's Society of Christian Service. Her steadfast devotion to the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life, earning her the title of a prayer warrior among her peers.

Doris's generosity extended beyond her family and church community; she was a devoted caregiver to elderly relatives and a source of comfort and strength to many. Her infectious positivity, sense of humor, and indomitable spirit left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.

In addition to her church involvement, Doris cherished family traditions, ensuring her grandchildren experienced the joys of the family farm and creating lasting memories during yearly vacations in the Ozarks. Known affectionately as Nana Doe to her great-grandsons, she delighted in baking homemade cookies for them and showering them with love and affection.

Doris is survived by her sons: Michael (Vicki) Tronc of Poplar Grove, IL, Mark (Rosalie) Tronc of Oswego, IL; son-in-law, Alan Merritt of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren: Tim (Jen), Lisa (Jake), Zakary, Paul (Diandra), and John; great-grandchildren: Eric, Jacob, Matt, Drew, Emma, and Serena; and one sister, Rita Diemer of Pontiac, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved spouse, Paul, her daughter, Elaine Merritt, and siblings: Hazel McDugle, Betty Landstrom, Dorothy Hedden, Earl, Glenn, and Joe Ripsch.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at McDowell United Methodist Church, preceded by visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made to the family at duffyfuneralhome.com or by visiting Duffy Funeral Home on Facebook.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to McDowell United Methodist Church or Evenglow Senior Living in Pontiac, IL.

Doris's legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Paul and Elaine, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.

I think my Mom, Mildred Hamilton , taught Doris and Rita at McDowell school. I used to love seeing her when I came to Pontiac. May her memory be eternal
