Eugene "Butch" Ooms, Wapella, IL, passed at home early on June 17th after an extended battle with cancer.

Butch was an Army veteran, spent many years making rail cars, and ended his career making wind turbines. He started his life in Chicago Heights, and moved to Wapella to work at the plant in Clinton. He traveled to help supervise in Georgia and Mexico due to his ability to get the best work from his crew.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judith, and his five children, Karen, Timothy, Christopher, Alison, and Matthew. He was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren that brightened his life.

No service will take place, at his insistence. Central Cremations will be preparing him for final resting.

If you would like celebrate his life, donations to Relay For Life (cancer.org) are greatly appreciated.
