James Beardsley Obituary

James Ray Beardsley

James Ray Beardsley passed away July 19, 2024, in Heyworth Illinois. Born on December 11, 1945, to Marcella MacMorran and Ray Earl Beardsley Jr. Jim was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather to those he loved so dearly. Per his request no services will be provided.

Jim lived in Litchfield, PA., graduating from Sayre High School in 1963. In 1965, he enlisted in the Navy. After his service he built his career and relocated several times in the telecommunications industry working for GTE, then later Verizon, retiring in 2010.

On October 23, 1971, Jim married his true love and soulmate Vanessa (Kinner), in Sayre PA. Together, over 52 years, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and the hustle and bustle of raising two children, David and Stephanie Beardsley. Their union was not just a marriage but a partnership in sickness and in health that flourished in unconditional love and support.

Jim will be remembered as a strong, humble, caring, and respected role model. He was known for being a hardworking, gentle man and a kind human being who never said a bad word about anyone.

Jim was an avid reader and history buff. He loved to tinker in his spare time and there wasn't a problem he couldn't fix nor anyone he wouldn't help. Most importantly, he loved his family, and they came before anything else.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Penelope Rae Hopper. He is survived by his wife Vanessa; his son David (Cory) Beardsley; Stephanie (Jeremy) Hopper; his grandson James Hopper; his siblings Bonnie (Mike) Urie, Richard Beardsley (José Arvizu), Jane (Thomas) Holloran, and Robert (Nancy) Beardsley.

In lieu of flowers, the Beardsley family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from neighbors and friends. A special thank you goes out to the Carle Bromenn hospital staff for their outstanding care and support for Jim and his family. Jim will forever be remembered, and his legacy will live on in the love he bestowed upon his family every day and in the hearts of those who knew him.
