LEXINGTON - John Milan Lindenbaum, 91, of Lexington, passed away at 8:49 a.m. at his home where he was proud to be able to maintain his independence until his passing on Friday, November 3, 2023. He loved his home and property next to the Mackinaw.
Cremation rites were accorded and a celebration of life will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Lexington Community Center. A private service will be at the family farm. Memorials may be made to the Fellowship of Christian Farmers, Lexington.
Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Memorial Home is assisting the family with services.
John was born January 12, 1932, at the family home in Lexington Twp. The son of Henry and Edna Hensley Lindenbaum. He married Mary Ann Wilson in May of 1951; they had four children, Ronald (Marge) Lindenbaum of Phoenix, AZ, Gail (Steve) Reynolds of Saybrook, Timothy Lindenbaum of Lexington, and Kurt (Karen) Lindenbaum of Owatonna, MN. He later married Connie K. Meiss in August of 1977, and gained her four children, Allen (Linda) Friedman of Holiday, FL, Todd Friedman of New Port Richey, FL, Kelli (Gary) Shirley of Champaign, and Jillaine Friedman of Colfax. She preceded him in death. They had twenty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Byron; and one sister, Berdean Freed.
John attended Pleasant Hill School where he rode his horse Bill to school every day. He had a dog Spindle who would retrieve the daily mail. John Graduated from Lexington High School and farmed in the Lexington area from 1950 until he retired in 2008, after 58 years of farming. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Bloomington, the Fellowship of Christian farmers, Lexington, and the Old Codgers. He was an original member of the Lexington Jaycees and Lexington Kiwanis Club. He was an avid storyteller and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
